Middle Fork of the Salmon River Music Trips In Idaho
Our Idaho Rafting & Music Trips
Our “Pickin’ On the Middle Fork” trips feature select musicians such as Tim Bluhm and Greg Loiacono of the Mother Hips, Todd Sheaffer of Railroad Earther, Bill Nershi of Stringcheese Incident to name a few, and sometimes full bands such as the Infamous Stringdusters, Hot Buttered Rum, Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen, and Cabinet to name a few. Regardless of the musical makeup the guests quickly fall in love with this added special bonus to our normally fantastic trips.
The musicians are full participants in the trip and like all of our guests take advantage of all of the opportunities the Middle Fork has to offer such as hiking, visiting cultural sites and points of natural wonder, fly fishing for native Westslope cutthroat trout, making new friends, soaking in natural hot springs, etc. The running of the trip is like all of our other great trips, the only difference being we will be treated to professional musicians performing their art in one of the more inspiring places possible, the Middle Fork Salmon and the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area.

Reviews from our guests
There is no way to put into words or pictures what this trip really is! Special people, the crew, musicians and guests alike, with the backdrop of stunning canyon walls echoing the sounds of string music. An experience of a lifetime for sure and one that will never be forgotten.

ANSWERS TO ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS
HOW DO YOU KEEP THE INSTRUMENTS DRY?
We had our good friends at Jack’s Plastic Welding build a set of custom dry bags that along with the instruments being in hard sided travel cases keep them cozy while not in use.
DO THE MUSICIANS PLAY A “SET” EACH NIGHT?
We like to keep the musical element unscheduled and relaxed. Our thought is the musicians we deal with can not help themselves but to play, the Middle Fork being an amazingly inspiring place!
CAN I BRING AN INSTRUMENT?
Absolutely! Most all of the musicians are encouraging to other players and enjoy picking with anyone who wants. We do ask that you alert us that you will be bring an instrument and that it is in a hard sided case you would fly commercial with.
DO THE MUSICIANS PLAY DURING THE DAY?
We leave that to the musicians. There are a number of place we pass between camps that are great acoustically and/or visually special that the crew will alert the musicians to. Some trips we stop and play while other we wait until camp.
